LAURINBURG, N.C., May 9, 2006—Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation announced today that its Golf Grip Division, manufacturer of Golf Pride® grips, has partnered with Y-ME National Breast Cancer Organization to help ensure that no one faces breast cancer alone.
As part of a strong commitment to breast cancer awareness, Eaton’s Golf Grip Division, in coordination with two new pink grip innovations, will donate 25 cents from each Golf Pride Tour Velvet® Pink and Dual Durometerâ?¢ Pink putter grip sold in the United States, Japan and the United Kingdom through January 2007.
Golf Pride’s Tour Velvet grip, now with pink trim, is the most widely used grip in golf today while the Dual Durometerâ?¢ Pink putter grip, launching this June, offers optimal control and feedback on the putting surface.
Surrounding National Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, a limited number of Golf Pride’s Tour Velvet Pink grips will be designed with Y-ME’s pink inverted ribbon to symbolize how peoples’ lives are turned upside down when they, or someone they love, are affected by the disease. In addition to grip sales from Golf Pride’s Tour Velvet Pink, Eaton’s Golf Pride will support Y-ME’s mission through marketing efforts to drive customers to Y-ME’s 24-hour hotline staffed by trained breast cancer survivors.
"No matter gender or age, we have all been touched by someone who has battled breast cancer," said Dwight Miles, director of global sales and marketing for Eaton Corporation’s Golf Grip Division. "Eaton’s Golf Grip Division is honored to support Y-ME’s mission and to help provide recognition for its many programs."
Margaret C. Kirk, chief executive officer of Y-ME National Breast Cancer Organization, agrees Golf Pride’s "Grip for Awareness, Swing for Hope" campaign is the kind of partnership that anyone, not just golfers, can get behind. "Y-ME is pleased to welcome Eaton to our family of corporate sponsors. The commitment of Eaton’s Golf Grip Division to this partnership, much like their dedication to the golfing world, is extraordinary," said Kirk. "This alliance provides our organization with yet one more opportunity to increase awareness and do more to support those fighting this terrible disease."
Eaton’s Golf Grip Division is the world’s largest manufacturer of golf grips, with manufacturing, sales and distribution facilities on five continents. Y-ME has the only 24-hour hotline staffed entirely by trained breast cancer survivors. Additionally, 10 affiliates throughout the nation provide services such as support groups, early detection workshops, wigs and prostheses for women with limited resources, and advocacy on breast cancer related policies in their communities. The pink ribbon logo is inverted because it forms the "Y" in Y-ME. Also, the Y-ME Hotline is "where to turn when your world turns upside down" as a result of a breast cancer diagnosis. For breast cancer support or information, including publications and newsletters, visit y-me.org or call the Y-ME National Breast Cancer Hotline at 1-800-221-2141 (English, with interpreters available in 150 languages) or 1-800-986-9505 (Spanish).
