CHICAGO, Ill. – Launched just over two years ago, the hammYâ?¢ is proving it’s not just a flash in the pan in the golf world. The technology behind the triple-bend, split-grip putter, gives the golfer a more natural stance and a better line of sight when putting.
The hammY’s triple bend shaft keeps the putter head closer and parallel to the ground and allows for a smoother stroke. It also makes it possible to remove your lead side out of the putt, promoting an open stance.
"This open stance (approximately 45 degrees) provides you the ability to view the line with both eyes," said Jim Alvarez, hammYâ?¢ CEO and co-owner. "Using both eyes to track the target line is just one of many advantages to the revolutionary triple bend shaft."
Another advantage is its revolutionary split grip that allows you to finally putt with control and accuracy. By spreading your hands on the shaft, you will maximize your control over the putter.
"Anything in life that requires control and accuracy, you spread your hands for optimal success," said Alvarez. "Imagine bunting a baseball or taking a slap shot in hockey; the only way you will consistently succeed is by spreading your hands for control and accuracy."
By placing your lower hand to the bottom grip you will gain the control required to bring the putter head straight back and straight through on each putt. The lower grip will result in a natural roll on the ball, as if you were rolling the ball with your hand, assisting to eliminate three putts. The lead hand holds the top handle, working as a guide, to eliminate unwanted wrist break in the putting stroke.
Since switching over to the hammYâ?¢ in 2005, LPGA golfer Natalie Gulbis has become one of the most consistent putters on Tour improving her putting average from 89th to 19th – while moving from 20th to third in birdies.
