Head of Marketing Sees Sales Boom Ahead
Vancouver, Canada, May 10, 2006 – GPS Industries (GPSI)
Steven Barrett brings 22 years of marketing and media communications experience to his new corporate home. After commencing his career as a media buyer, Mr. Barrett co-founded the advertising agency Image Dynamics Corporation in 1988. He remained in the agency business for more than a decade before joining United Furniture Warehouse – a retail chain with more than 160 locations in the United States and Canada – as Vice President of Marketing. After six years with the retail giant Mr. Barrett served as a Creative Consultant to Seattle-based video game developer Gas Powered Games.
"When I learned this opportunity was available I knew I just had to get involved," says Barrett, "In my view the GPS industry is on the verge of an explosive period of growth. I’m convinced we will soon see mass adoption of this technology in the golf business and GPSI is ideally positioned to lead that growth."
According to documents recently filed with the SEC, GPSI’s 2005 sales exceeded those of the previous year by 166%, and 2006 sales are forecast to grow even more dramatically.
"To join a company with such tremendous potential is a rare opportunity" Says Barrett. "The company is achieving record sales and market share improvement. Much of my focus will be on supporting continued sales expansion through enriched communications of all kinds."
Adds GPS Industries President and CEO Robert Silzer, "Steve is a valuable new acquisition for us. The magnitude of growth we are experiencing demands a sharply focused, disciplined marketing strategy and Steve’s experience will give us precisely that. We will be taking full advantage of his many talents."
