Golfers From Across The Country To Compete In Annual Tournament
May 12, 2006, Litchfield Beach, S.C. – The 10th annual Carolina Couples Classic, the premier couples’ golf tournament in South Carolina, will be held October 5 – 8, 2006, at the award-winning Litchfield Beach & Golf Resort. The Carolina Couples Classic attracts couples from across the country to compete for gifts and prizes. Last year’s event drew participants from Georgia, Indiana, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia.
The golfers play two of the Myrtle Beach area’s premier plantation courses, Litchfield Country Club and Willbrook Plantation. In addition to the two-person team competition, this year’s event also includes an Intra-Club Competition with additional prizes for the teams representing the winning golf club.
Demo Day, an annual tradition at the Carolina Couples Classic, is scheduled for Friday, October 6th at the Litchfield Country Club driving range from 12:00 noon until 4:00 p.m. Demo Day will offer Carolina Classic participants the opportunity to test the latest in golf equipment technology from manufacturers including Nike, Adams Golf, Callaway, MacGregor and many others. During Demo Day, Carolina Couples participants will receive complimentary club fitting and substantial discounts on all golf purchases.
In addition, the "Launch Your Game" program will be featured at the Demo Day. The Golf Achiever Launch Monitor captures split-second images of the swing and the ball as it leaves the clubface. The complimentary analysis instantly shows club head speed, ball flight, ball spin, launch angle and club head angle as the ball leaves the clubface. Golf professionals use this information to instantly help the golfer understand and correct his or her golf swing to obtain optimum distance.
"We expect a record number of participants for the 2006 Carolina Couples Classic," said Jim Woodring, vice president of golf operations for the Myrtle Beach National Company. "This is the premier couples’ golf event in the Carolinas and we try to make it more enjoyable each year."
This year’s Carolina Couples Classic runs concurrent with another festive Grand Strand event, The Pawleys Island Festival of Music and Art. The Festival is a month-long celebration of the arts and kicks off with the Nashville Mandolin Ensemble on Friday, October 6th.
Entry fee for the 2006 Carolina Couples Classic is $929 per couple and includes three days of golf, three nights accommodations at Litchfield Beach & Golf Resort, complimentary club fitting, a welcome reception, daily breakfast buffet, and an awards banquet.
