Golfweek turns the Orlando Championships over to its new local publication
ORLANDO, Fla., (May 18, 2006) – Golf Life Orlando, a sister publication to Golfweek magazine, is the new host of the former Golfweek’s Orlando Championships and is now accepting entries for Orlando’s largest citywide golf challenge. The Golf Life Orlando Championships, sponsored by Edwin Watts, will be held at ChampionsGate Golf Resort June 10 – 11 and will recognize the best golfers in the Orlando area.
The Golf Life Orlando Championships will have five divisions:
Championship Division: Open to all golfers (54 holes, June 9-11), rate $120.
Men’s Division: (ages 19 – 40): flighted by handicap, rate $95.
Masters Division: (ages 41 – 54): flighted by handicap, rate $95.
Senior Division: (men 55 +): flighted by handicap, rate $95.
Women’s Division: (all ages): gross and net divisions, rate $95.
"Local Central Florida golfers need not worry about the change from Golfweek hosting the event to Golf Life Orlando hosting it, attendees will receive the same top-notch service they have grown accustomed to," said Golfweek publisher Jim Nugent. "We believe this year, the third year, will certainly be the best."
To qualify for the Golf Life Orlando Championships, players must reside in Orange, Seminole, Osceola or Lake County. Tournament entry fee includes two rounds of tournament play, range balls prior to tournament play (three rounds for Championship Division), tee gifts, prizes and awards. Entry deadline is June 1 or when field is full.
