REUNION, Fla. (May 24, 2006) – Tournament officials announced today that the 2007 LPGA Ginn Clubs & Resorts Open will be held April 9-15, 2007, at Reunion Resort & Club. The new dates fall immediately after The Masters.
The inaugural Ginn Clubs & Resorts Open was one of the most highly-touted new events on the 2006 LPGA schedule. Featuring a $2.5 million purse, 49 of the top 50 players on the 2005 money list and a variety of music events highlighted by country duo Brooks & Dunn, the Ginn Clubs & Resorts Open blazed new trails on the LPGA Tour.
"We are already working on our entertainment lineup for next year’s tournament," said Linda Chen, tournament director for the Ginn Clubs & Resorts Open. "We learned so much last year and are currently devising ways to make the 2007 Ginn Clubs & Resorts Open an even greater success than our inaugural year."
The Ginn Clubs & Resorts Open was played on a composite layout of the Tom Watson-designed Independence Course and the Arnold Palmer-designed Legacy Course. The 7,154-yard Independence Course, Watson’s first Florida design, has garnered many accolades since opening in February 2005. Equally beautiful and challenging is the 6,916-yard Legacy Course, designed by the legendary Palmer. Reunion’s third course, the Tradition Course, a Jack Nicklaus Signature design, is scheduled to open in early 2007.
The four-year agreement between Ginn Clubs & Resorts and the LPGA, ensures that women’s professional championship golf will be prominently featured at a first-class Florida venue for years to come.
