YPSILANTI, Mich. (May 25, 2006) – When Chris Mile first opened the Miles of Golf facility
ten years ago he did so with the idea that avid golfers were looking for a place where they could test and be fitted for golf equipment, and then practice and be instructed in the same place. A decade later, the success of Miles of Golf bears out Mile’s early beliefs.
Now celebrating its tenth anniversary, Miles of Golf in Ypsilanti is recognized by the industry as one of the leading all-purpose retail, practice and instructional golf facilities in the country. Not only does Miles of Golf feature all leading brands of golf equipment, it is home to the Kendall Golf Academy, operated and supervised by Dave Kendall, the
current Michigan PGA Professional of the Year. "It’s been a great partnership for us," says Chris Mile. "Today, having equipment is just not enough. We feel the components of proper fitting and instruction are crucial to satisfying the needs of our clientele, and Dave has developed the programs and the staff to let us do that."
Miles of Golf offers pro-line and mid-priced golf equipment. Its "Cluboratory" offers the latest in technical advancements in fitting, and thousands of customers have taken advantage of such equipments as launch monitors, which determine ball-flight characteristics of each individual golfer. "No two players produce the same kind of flight and spin on their ball," says Mile. "We need to know a player’s characteristics before we recommend equipment. Some brands can be perfect for one player, and not another."
Following the fitting process, golfers are encouraged to take advantage of the Kendall Academy for instruction. "There’s no better time to give instruction to a player who’s excited about being fitted with the right equipment," says Dave Kendall, a two-time Michigan PGA Teacher of the Year award winner. "Almost to a person they’re eager and willing to absorb the instruction and do the work that will help them improve on the course." Kendall’s staff of PGA professionals is available at Miles of Golf every day of the week and includes instructors who have worked with golfers of all skill levels.
Miles of Golf has garnered much national acclaim over the last decade, as one of Golf World Business Top 100 retail shops in America and as one of the best practice facilities in the country, according to the Golf Range Association of America. With acres of space, bent grass practice greens and tees and bunkers, it’s a place where hundreds of golfers spend hours each week honing their skills.
