(May 25, 2006) – Some aces just beg to be explained… In a conversation regarding Volvik Golf Balls, Dan Gille of Madison WI explained his second career ace to Glen Coombe, FLGolf’s Director of Corporate Communications.
During Dan’s first round of the season on April 7th, 2006 at the Watertown Country Club, in Watertown WI Gille’s tee shot into the 172 yard par 3 9th hole was a one shot wonder. Dan was playing with club pro Dan Rolloff, PGA. "Rolloff had put his ball a commendable 18" from the cup," said Gille. "We had a pretty good match going and I just one hopped it right over his ball into the hole."
Aces being what they are can be pretty special. This is Gille’s second ace. He’s been playing golf for forty years and scored his first ace back in 1990. But what makes this ace so special is that Dan, brave man that he is, plays with the pink color Crystal golf ball!! Dan said, "It all started one round last August where I kept loosing balls. By the time I got to the eighth hole I was out of balls. I just happened to have a sleeve of pink Volvik Crystal balls in my bag. Don’t ask me why, I don’t know. I hit the pink Crystal and played the next ten holes one over par. Since then I’ve played nothing but the Pink Crystal. It gets me lots of laughs."
Gille like so many other golfers has found success with the Crystal ball. He said of the Crystal ball, "I love it for the distance and especially putting. Putting is my thing and I love the way it putts."
Across the country golfers are playing Crystal balls of all colors, some even play with the white Crystal. Most would agree with Volvik’s statement, "Innovator or imitator? The choice is clear…Crystal clear!"
