ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. (May 26, 2006) – Winners were announced and presented in a dozen categories in 13th Annual ING Media Awards at the ING Spring Conference at The National Golf Club in the Village Of Pinehurst, NC.
First-place finishers and outstanding achievers were recognized at the 16th Annual ING Spring Conference, which attracted over 200 industry and media leaders to the Pinehurst area.
Golfweek and Golf Illustrated tied for the most first-place winners with two each. First-place finishers from Golfweek were Jeff Rude in the Opinion/Editorial category (tied with Darin Bunch of Fairways and Greens Magazine), and Gene Yasuda in the Business Writing category. Golf Illustrated winners were Mike Okamato (Illustration) and Laurie Lee Dovey (Instruction).
Mulitple winners included Gary Van Sickle of Sports Illustrated, Golfstyles magazine’s Ronnie Musselwhite, freelancer Bob Seligman, Vic Williams of Fairways & Greens, and Golfweek’s Rude.
Media award sponsors were Aldila, EMI and Bridgestone Golf. Each category had three independent judges, and entries were stripped of identification prior to being sent to the judges.
The International Network Of Golf is a 16-year-old, non-profit, media-based networking organization whose mission is to enhance and promote communication and education in golf. The group conducts meetings at which media and industry leaders gather to discuss issues, launch and test new products, and develop relationships.
