KENTFIELD, Calif. (May 30, 2006) – Fairway Skins Company, maker of a superior new line of high-fashion ladies’ golf gloves, will serve as a sponsor of the "Go Red for Women" charity event June 10 at Pinehurst Resort in Pinehurst, N.C. The tournament is part of Pinehurst Women’s Golf Week, planned to coincide with Women’s Golf Week to take place June 3-10 across the U.S., a collaboration of the top U.S. golf organizations aimed at increasing the participation of women in golf.
"It is our pleasure to help sponsor this event at Pinehurst," said Marje Helfet, CEO of Fairway Skins Company, which was formed last year and exhibited at the PGA Merchandise Show & Convention in January. "Women’s Golf Week is an important element in the growth of golf, and Fairway Skins is committed to supporting that effort."
The "Go Red for Women" 18-hole scramble tournament will be played on Pinehurst No. 1, with each team consisting of one adult and one child, one of whom must be female. The event, which will include a fashion lunch, golf and charity donation, will benefit the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women movement, a nationwide campaign to raise women’s awareness of their risk for heart disease, the primary cause of death among women.
Made from the finest Cabretta* leather, Fairway Skins gloves feature colorful antique botanical prints which grace the back of each glove. Six different floral designs are available to complement any outfit: cereus, iris, lily, magnolia, poppy and strawberry. New designs will be added to the line seasonally. Beautifully packaged, the gloves are constructed to withstand sun, wind and rain. Distinctive for both their elegant designs and their high-performance attributes, Fairway Skins gloves are being welcomed by casual and serious golfers alike.
"We are delighted that golfers are discovering the lovely designs and high-quality characteristics of our gloves," Helfet said. "Our goal is to bring beauty and performance to the golf course with our line of gloves."
Fairway Skins gloves are available in select golf shops across the U.S. and on the company Web site, www.fairwayskins.com.
