NEW YORK (May 10, 2006) – The United Kingdom based Tri(R)Bag company has spent almost two years designing and engineering what many golf industry experts say is one of the most innovative new products to come along in the golf bag category in a very long time. What makes Tri-Bag so unique is that it is the first ever golf bag that incorporates a fully retractable pull handle and a detachable wide body "slickwheel" system which allows golfers to effortlessly pull the bag over any type of golf course terrain.
The bag is also designed with dual harness straps so it can be carried as a shoulder bag or carried "back-pack" style and is equipped with two high tensile alloy stand legs. The wheels can be easily detached with one click and stowed away in a separate drawstring wheel bag cover for storage or the wheels can be kept on the golf bag and covered when not in use by a built-in mud cover to protect against mud or dirt while the bag is stowed away in a car, garage or clubhouse. The bag has been designed to work equally well on a golf cart with full access to all eight pockets, hence the name "Tri" for its use as a pull cart bag, a carry bag or a golf cart bag.
"The sight of a Tri-Bag golf bag on the golf course has created an instant buzz factor," says Gary Sheppard, Tri-Bag’s North American President and CEO. "I’ve had people stop to ask me where I got the cool-looking golf bag from the moment I take it out of my car, to all the way around the course. It’s a huge attention grabber and everyone wants to be the first to get one."
The golf industry has seen numerous technological advances in recent years in equipment and even golf balls, but the golf bag category has been relatively staid. Tri-Bag is hoping to change that in 2006 and is counting on the millions of golfers who still prefer to get a walking exercise while they play a round of golf- only this time, they’ll have a choice to pull it or carry it, wherever, whenever. The ability to change a bag from a carry bag to a pull cart bag while on the course may forever change the way golfers play the game. And it may speed up the pace of play- a welcome relief for many golfers who have complained about the length of time it takes to get around the course.
Tri-Bag plans to roll out the product line across North America in early June and has lined up the PGA Tour Superstores, Golf Etc. stores and a number of web sites including the industry’s leader- Golfsmith to carry the brand. A warehouse and distribution facility has been set up in Dallas, TX and the company anticipates strong demand across a wide demographic profile including seniors, women, active players and first time golfers who are just learning the game.
According to Sheppard, "golfers are brand name driven to a large extent and we expect that owning a Tri-Bag will be the status bag to own and tout to their golfing friends."
Celebrity Spokeswoman Ann Liguori adds, "Tri(R)Bag will revolutionize the golf bag market. For those of us golfers who love to walk, Tri(R)Bag is so easy to pull and maneuver. It’s a product whose time has come!"
The company states that interest has been just as strong overseas. Michelle Bray, the UK Company’s founder, declares that "we are having inquiries from around the world and in my many years of experience in the golf industry, I have never seen such an enthusiastic response to a new product line."
