(May 31, 2006) – Cory Reighard has been named to the newly created position of Director of Course Rating for the Golf Association of Philadelphia.
Reighard, 23, was a former USGA P.J. Boatwright, Jr. intern for the Western Pennsylvania Golf Association where he learned the intricacies Course Rating. He graduated from Penn State University in 2005 with a bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Park and Tourism Management.
In addition to his stint as a Boatwright intern, Reighard originally from Hopewell, Pa., served as an assistant pro shop manager for the Down River Golf Course in Everett, Pa., as well as an intern for both the Penn National Golf Club in Fayetteville, Pa. and Bent Creek Country Club in Lititz, Pa.
Reighard, a 2004 and 2005 qualifier for the WPGA Amateur, now brings his golf industry experience eastward to the GAP.
"This is an exciting change for me," said Reighard about working on this side of Pennsylvania. "I’m eager to get started. "

Reighard’s other duties will consist of assisting Tyler Riggin in the Handicapping Services Department.
The GAP has provided course ratings to golf courses throughout the region since 1983, when the system was created by the USGA.
