TaylorMade Expands "I AM A GOLFER" Campaign for Father’s Day

New Campaign Features TaylorMade Tour Staff Professionals Talking About Their Fathers and Allows Consumers to Send a Father’s Day e-Card

CARLSBAD, Calif. (June 6, 2006) – TaylorMade-adidas Golf Company is extending its popular "I AM A GOLFER(TM)" advertising campaign with the launch of a new television commercial and website during U.S. Open week. In the commercial seven members of TaylorMade’s Tour Staff share memories learning the game from and playing the game with their fathers. Featured are former U.S. Open Champions Retief Goosen and Hale Irwin, as well as Mike Weir, Sergio Garcia, Tom Lehman, Kenny Perry and Sean O’Hair.

The updated I AM A GOLFER website at www.iamagolfer.com will house the full interviews of each tour player, and allow visitors to send their fathers a thank-you card.

"One of the joys of golf is introducing it to your son or daughter and seeing them develop the same love for it as you have," said Sean Toulon, TaylorMade executive vice president of product and brand creation. "This week, when Father’s Day and the U.S. Open coincide, we thought it would be great to celebrate the bond golf can create between a father and his children by sharing interviews in which some of our Tour Staff members talk about their fathers."

During the 60-second spot Weir and Goosen each describe the first time they beat their dad in golf, while Perry remembers the smell of his dad’s cigar as he taught Kenny how to grip the club. Lehman recalls being eight years old and shagging balls for his dad with his baseball mitt, while Garcia and O’Hair both recollect holding golf clubs when they could barely walk.

"Serious golfers already understand the technical superiority of TaylorMade equipment, but they may not understand that we share the same passion they have for the game," said Toulon. "I AM A GOLFER expresses our love for the game and gives golfers a peek into the soul of our brand."

TaylorMade’s I AM A GOLFER advertising campaign was created by San Diego-based advertising agency NYCA with assistance from TaylorMade’s internal global marketing team.
