LAURINBURG, N.C. (June 6, 2006) – Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation announced that, according to Darrell Survey results, more than eight out of 10 professional golfers used Golf Pride(R) grips at both the Nationwide Tour’s Rex Hospital Open, which took place June 1-4 in Raleigh, N.C., and the 2006 NCAA Men’s Division I Championship, which was played May 31-June 3 in Sunriver, Oregon.
The Rex Hospital Open featured 141 of the 156-player field (90.4 percent) using Golf Pride grips on the majority of the clubs in their bags, while the NCAA event showed similar Golf Pride grip leadership (133 of 156, or 85.3 percent).
From the two tournaments combined, Golf Pride grips were used on 3,743 clubs (85.7 percent) compared to just 625 clubs gripped with competitors’ grips. Golf Pride grips also collectively adorned 769 of 860 woods (89.4 percent).
"To know that Golf Pride is not only the preferred choice among PGA pros, but also among Nationwide players and the best collegiate golfers in the country, is very satisfying," said Dwight Miles, director of global sales and marketing for Eaton Corporation’s Golf Grip Division. "Usage by the world’s best players – both in the college and pro ranks — is a testament to Golf Pride’s revolutionary grip technology and outstanding performance," added Miles.
