Team entries being accepted for event to be held June 16-18, 2006
ORLANDO, Fla. (June 8, 2006) – Golfweek magazine will host its 24th annual Father & Son Open at World Golf Village in St. Augustine, Fla. Friday, June 16 through Sunday, June 18 (Father’s Day).
Father and son golfers of all ages, including both amateur and professional golfers, are invited to compete in the Golfweek Father & Son Open. Additionally, the tournament is open to fathers with multiple sons or combinations of consecutive generations of father/sons as well as uncle/nephew and father-in-law/son-in-law teams.

The weekend will begin with check in for participants at 5 p.m. Friday. Saturday will include the first tournament round beginning at 8 a.m., a complimentary clinic at the PGA TOUR Golf Academy and the U.S. Open Party/ Father of the Year presentation at 5 p.m. during a reception at the World Golf Hall of Fame. The final tournament round and awards presentation will take place on Sunday. Past Father of the Year award recipients include Earl Woods, King Martin, Karsten Solheim, Jack Nicklaus and Robert Trent Jones, Sr.
The tournament format consists of a two-man 36-hole Modified Chapman (alternate shot) and will be played at the Slammer & Squire and King & Bear, the only course co-designed by Hall of Fame members Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus. Tournament fields will be divided into flights according to each team’s combined handicaps. Prizes will be awarded to the top teams in each flight. More than 100 teams from Florida and across the U.S. participated in the 2005 event.
