POWAY, Calif. – Aldila, Inc. posted a major victory Sunday at the 106th U.S. Open Championship in Mamoroneck, N.Y., with the winner using the VS Protoâ?¢ shaft in his King Cobra X/Speed driver.
"This is the 3rd win this year for a player using our new VS ProtoTM," said Mike Rossi, Aldila’s Vice President of Marketing and Sales. "All our research indicated that the new VS ProtoTM graphite shaft performed well but to achieve a major Tour victory so soon after the launch is testament to our belief that the VS ProtoTM is truly a unique shaft."
According to the Darrell Survey for Consumers, Aldila was the number one hybrid shaft at the PGA Tour’s U.S. Open and at the Nationwide Tour’s Knoxville Open. Aldila was also the number one shaft of choice at the Knoxville Open.
The VS ProtoTM shaft incorporates Aldila’s innovative new next generation Micro Laminate TechnologyTM featuring carbon nanotubes, combined with Aldila’s proprietary A65 Performance Resin System, using advanced high modulus graphite fibers, all synthesized into Micro Laminate TechnologyTM.
"The straight tapered tooling of the VS Protoâ?¢ eliminates the dead zones from taper rate changes found in 90 percent of shafts available on the market today," said John Oldenberg, Vice President of Engineering and Product Development at Aldila. "The VS ProtoTM offers unparalleled performance, consistency and feel and is the straightest, longest shaft that Aldila has ever offered."
Aldila’s VS Protoâ?¢ recorded two earlier PGA Tour victories this year at the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am and the FBR Open in Scottsdale, Ariz.
