SCOTTSDALE, AZ (June 20, 2006) -Gaylord Sports Management has hired Tim Ummel to be its Director of Business Development, and has signed a management agreement with 2006 Hogan Award winner Matt Every of the University of Florida.
As a partner in Copper Advertising of Kalamazoo, Mich., Ummel was largely involved in coordinating and promoting new golf course development. His most recent project there was serving as the liaison between the property holder, the developer of the Running Horse Golf and Country Club in Fresno, Calif., and the PGA Tour, which this year named Running Horse as the host site for a new Tour event in 2007.
At Gaylord Sports, Ummel will chiefly pursue and promote golf course design project for clients Phil Mickelson, Hale Irwin, Dave Pelz and Rick Smith.
"We’re very lucky to have Tim join our staff," said Managing Partner/President and Chief Executive Officer Steve Loy. "With his experience in corporate marketing and golf course fulfillment efforts, he will add tremendous value to our efforts to increase client business development."
Every was a walk-on player at the University of Florida four years ago. He’s been a first-team All-American for the last three and this year won the Ben Hogan Award as the outstanding male golfer in NCAA Division I. His final-round 68 helped propel the Gators to second place in the NCAA championships. Every will begin playing as soon as possible this summer on the Nationwide and PGA tours.
"I chose Gaylord Sports because I wanted to go with a big and successful agency, but one where I felt I could get personal attention," said Every. "In looking forward to my pro career Gaylord was clearly the best fit for me."
"Matt is an accomplished player and an outstanding young man," said David Yates, Gaylord Chief Executive Vice President and Operating Officer, who will oversee Every’s affairs. "It’s an honor to represent him and we look ahead to great things to come from him on and off the course."
