Grace Park withdraws from Women’s U.S. Open

SCOTTSDALE, AZ. (June 21, 2006) – Grace Park has withdrawn from the 2006 U.S. Women’s Open.

Park has suffered with a sore neck for some time now, an injury possibly related to the back pain that hampered Park for most of the 2005 season. Doctors strongly advised a minimum of three to four weeks of rest; that is, time off without touching a golf club.

"I knew something was not right but that’s certainly not what I wanted to hear from my doctors at this point in the season," said Park, who has seven top-10 finishes in her last 13 majors, including a victory in the 2004 Kraft Nabisco Championship. "I’m obviously sorry I have to miss the U.S. Open but right now my top priority has to be getting fully healthy again."

Park hopes to return for the Evian Masters in France July 26-29.
