CHARLOTTE, N.C. — While much is written about famous golf courses and resorts, a whole segment of golf facilities exist outside the media spotlight. These oft-overlooked courses might be tucked away in unique locations or simply overshadowed by newer and fancier competition.
With that in mind, golf writer & publicist Craig Distl has created a golf website/blog — Off The Beaten Cart Path.com. The site focuses on enjoyable courses that aren’t in the limelight, but well worth a visit. Distl got the idea after realizing many of his favorite rounds happened on everyday courses off the beaten path.
The site contains short, conversational reviews of courses, sometimes spiced with Distl’s experiences while playing them. Photo albums are also included. Readers are encouraged to post comments, or give their own opinions of the courses.
"This isn’t a forum to formally assess golf architecture. That’s been done," said Distl. "Instead, it’s a fun, interactive guide on our shared golf journey, a place for you and your buddies to learn about enjoyable golf options."
As the site evolves, Distl hopes to include "guest reviews" from regular readers. To check it out, log on to: www.OffTheBeatenCartPath.com.
