Nike Golf’s Unitized Putter Scheduled to Launch at Retail on November 1
BEAVERTON, Ore. (June 26, 2006) – Nike Golf’s Tour Staff member Paul Casey claimed his sixth career PGA European Tour victory by winning the Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles in Scotland. Casey’s win adds yet another victory to Nike Golf’s compilation of 12 global wins in 2006, a number made up of seven on the PGA Tour, four internationally and one on the Nationwide Tour. Casey’s victory also consolidated his second position on the 2006 PGA European Tour Order of Merit and propelled him to fifth place in the European Ryder Cup standings.
As with Casey’s fellow Nike Golf Tour staff champions so far in 2006, he used the winning combination of the Nike SasQuatch Driver and the Nike One ball bringing the total global victories of this driver/ball combination to 10. However, a new secret weapon has been added to Casey’s bag that brought him the extra magic that he needed en route to his victory – Nike Golf’s new prototype putter, the Unitized.
Casey is one of a handful of Nike Golf athletes testing the Nike Unitized putter, which is in its final stages of development and is not available at retail until November 1. Casey’s triumph with this revolutionary new putter further validates the resounding message that Nike Golf develops innovative technology that produces winning performances in every single product category.
Named for the definition "to make into a single unit," the Nike Unitized putter is precisely that – the shaft and head are welded together as one piece. This process greatly enhances feel, a distinction that will separate the Unitized from other putters in the marketplace. Nike Golf’s seamless Unitized construction creates an express line straight from the putter face to the hands. There are no stops along the way to interrupt frequencies, thus creating an amazing feel and touch in the hands.
With the addition of the prototype Unitized putter to Casey’s winning arsenal, all 14 clubs in his bag are Nike Golf products. This technologically advanced putter is also being tested on the PGA Tour by Nike Golf’s Tour Staff member John Cook, who is on track to enjoy one of the most successful seasons of his career.
Completing Casey’s winning arsenal are his Nike Forged Blades, the 15-degree SasQuatch Fairway Wood, the 18-degree Slingshot Hybrid and his 52 and 59-degree Nike Wedges. Casey also wears Nike Golf apparel, the Nike SP 6 footwear and the Dri-Fit Tour Glove.
Stay tuned as more information on the Unitized putter will be forthcoming at the time of Nike’s launch this fall.
Photos and samples are not available until product team has fully completed the development cycle.
