After a one-year break the Danish Ryder Cup player will start again in the euro-3.6-million tournament at Gut Kaden
Alveslohe, 29th June 2006: In particular the many Danish golfing fans, who travel to the Deutsche Bank Players’ Championship of Europe every year to watch the world’s best golf professionals in action, will be happy at hearing this news: The Danish top star Thomas Björn is expected to take part in the "The Best of Golf" in North Germany from July 27th to 30th, 2006. "I am happy to be able to start at Gut Kaden again after a one-year break. It’s a great tournament and almost a home game for me, as I can always rely on my fellow countrymen to support me on site," says the number six in the European rankings who is looking forward to the tournament week at the end of July.
The organisers and promoters have been able to commit further top players from the neighbouring Northern European countries to the Deutsche Bank Players’ Championship of Europe. Among others, the Swede Carl Petterson, who mostly plays on the US PGA Tour, will give one of his rare guest performances in Europe. The number 31 in the current world golf rankings recently proved to be in excellent form and he will come to Gut Kaden as the winner of the Memorial Tournament, one of the most important tournaments in the USA. In addition, his fellow countrymen – all of them Scandinavian tournament winners of the PGA European Tour of the past twelve months – will tee off at Gut Kaden: Robert Karlsson, Johan Edfors, Hendrik Stenson, Mikael Lundberg, Joakim Bäckström and Niklas Fasth.
