RENO, Nev. – The Northern California PGA is pleased to announce its 2006 Semi-Annual Meeting and Pro Series 5 Tournament. The Semi-Annual Meeting, slated for the evening of Sunday, July 9, will be held at the Eldorado Hotel Casino in Reno, Nev. Over 250 Northern California and Northwestern Nevada PGA Professionals and special guests will be in attendance. In addition to the meeting and dinner banquet, more than 65 NCPGA Pros will compete in the Pro Series 5 Tournament, set for Monday, July 10 at D’Andrea Golf Club in Sparks, Nev.
The meeting’s theme this year is "90 Years of Excellence" celebrating the rich history of the PGA of America. "Golf is so deep-rooted in traditions, it is only appropriate, this year in particular, that the Northern California Section reflects on our Association’s history and achievements," said NCPGA President Sue Fiscoe.
Also befitting to the evening will be a special recognition honoring Lyle Wehrman, an NCPGA Life Member who is celebrating a 90th milestone birthday. "Mr. Wehrman has contributed immensely to our section’s success for over half his lifetime," Fiscoe said. "We look forward to acknowledging him in the presence of his peers at our semi-annual meeting."
Wehrman, a resident of San Ramon, Calif., has been a member of The PGA of America for 64 years. He was inducted into The PGA of America Hall of Fame in 2005, is a former National PGA Golf Professional of the Year award winner, and past president and former executive director of the Northern California PGA. Wehrman’s work in golf currently includes serving as Executive Director for the Northern California Golf Representatives’ Association and section historian for the Northern California PGA.
