Versatile hybrid shoes ideal for traditional golfers, hikers too
REDMOND, Wash. – Bite Footwear, manufacturer of the best biomechanical, performance golf footwear, is directing its attention to one of the fastest growing sports in America – disc golf. As in most sports, footing is extremely important and disc golf is no different, that is why Bite is launching the first shoes designed for the sport, which will be available later this summer.
"Although these shoes are designed with the disc golfer in mind, their versatile hybrid design makes them a great choice for traditional golfers, hikers and outdoor adventurers too," said Tom Cox, Bite National Sales Manager.
Bite’s latest hybrid shoes are the Distance Low and Distance High, which come with lugged traction soles for grip on natural tee boxes. The Distance Low features a breathable mesh and synthetic nubuck upper. It’s ideal for rugged outdoor courses and has a specialized Vibram outsole to provide superior traction and prevent grass build-up. This shoe has a virtually indestructible TEC-TUF toe guard contoured specifically for disc golf. It’s available in a wheat/almond color combination with a suggested retail price of $79.99.
The Distance High is for those seeking the performance of a waterproof shoe. It offers a high-top leather upper with a waterproof lining and ankle lace locking system for extra ankle support. It comes with a one-year waterproof guarantee and is also available in the wheat/almond color combo and retails at $89.99.
Disc golf is very similar to traditional golf. Instead of using a club to hit a small white ball, disc golfers throw a disc from a designated tee-pad toward a metal basket with hanging chains called a "pole hole" or a natural target like a tree or rock. While it can be played solo, disc golf is primarily a group activity. As with traditional golf each hole has a par.
Approximately 5 million people in the United States regularly play disc golf. According to the Professional Disc Golf Association, there are 50 new disc golf courses being developed every year America. With the affordability, accessibility (most courses are housed on public parks), and social nature, disc golf carries wide appeal amongst people of all ages and abilities.
