WESTHAMPTON, NY, July 10, 2006 – – The annual Ann Liguori American Cancer Society Celebrity Golf Classic, which recently marked its ninth edition at the Hampton Hills Golf Club in Westhampton, NY, has turned from a spectacular one-day golf outing into a three-day extravaganza of golf, charity and friendship.
Golfers, sponsors, notable personalities and friends of popular sportscaster Ann Liguori and the American Cancer Society all found their way to trendy Westhampton over the last weekend of June for what has become one of the most notable events of the summer in the Hamptons.
Among the celebrities who attended the weekend festivities were Jack McKee (star of FX’s "Rescue Me"), NY Yankees goodwill ambassador Gene Michael, Chris Karlin (of the "Imus in the Morning" show), Daniel Rodriguez (America’s "Beloved Tenor"), Dr. Max Gomez and Jane Hanson (WNBC-TV news journalists), Kenny Kramer (comedian, the "Original" Kramer), Mitch Laurance (former actor – – Madlock, Dawson Creek – – and an ESPN billiards commentator), former NY Jet Eric Ogbogu, Wayne Soares (comedian and star of upcoming Fox Sports series ‘Regular Joe’) and Rick Cerone (former NY Yankees catcher).
One of the top highlights of the weekend was the Outback Steakhouse VIP Dinner & Dance at Duckwalk Vineyards in Water Mill, NY, on the evening before the Classic. It is an event where the guests can relax, share golf stories and get psyched for the next day’s tournament.
"Our tournament has become a three-day reunion for all our friends and supporters," stated Liguori, who is involved in every aspect of the function’s planning and management from inviting the celebrities and securing the sponsors to acquiring prizes and helping with the event’s promotion. "The American Cancer Society has an amazing group of staff and volunteers who make working on this tournament a pleasure every year."
Since its inception in 1998, the Ann Liguori tournament has raised more than $1 million for the America Cancer Society.
