PLANO, TEXAS, July 10, 2006 – The final round of the U.S. Senior Open in Hutchinson, Kan., became an Adams Golf (OTCBB:ADGO) showdown between defending champion, Allen Doyle, and Hall of Famer, Tom Watson. Doyle prevailed with an overall score of 8-under to win his second straight U.S. Senior Open, the first such feat since Gary Player won back-to-back Senior Opens in 1987 and ’88. Watson finished in second place, two strokes behind Doyle.
"We congratulate Allen for capturing his second consecutive U.S. Senior Open title. That’s quite an accomplishment at any level of golf, especially against a challenger like Tom Watson," said Chip Brewer, Adams Golf CEO. "It was a banner day for Adams Golf as several of our staff tour pros jockeyed for position on the leaderboard. It once again proved that the line of products we’ve developed are trusted by golf’s very best."
Doyle’s championship week included a bag full of Adams Golf clubs. He played a prototype set of Idea Pro hybrids and forged irons that will debut in the marketplace later this year. The three hybrids in his bag were lofts of 20, 22 and 24 degrees. Doyle also used the RPM Dual driver and a Puglielli wedge. The Idea hybrid was the most played hybrid at the event, according to the Darrell Survey. A total of 56 Adams hybrids were used in the event, with five of the Top 10 finishers carrying at least one in his bag.
