NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC (July 12, 2006) – Ron Schmid, Executive Director of the Carolinas PGA Section, announced today that Stephanie Pendrys will join the staff as Marketing and Promotions Manager, effective in August. Pendrys will lead the marketing and communications efforts for the Carolinas PGA Section.
"Stephanie will be a valuable asset to the Carolinas PGA team," stated Schmid, "She has marketing communications experience, an inherent love of sports, and is very committed to helping us stimulate greater interest in the game of golf in the Carolinas and to communicate the substantial role of the Carolinas PGA professional in the golf industry."
In this new role, Pendrys will oversee the CPGA’s public relations and marketing campaigns, including Play Golf America and player development initiatives, and coordinate community outreach programs. She will also manage the CPGA website and serve as the primary Public Relations & Media contact for the Carolinas PGA Section.
Pendrys graduated in the spring of 2006 from the University of South Carolina with a graduate degree in mass communications focusing on integrated communications and public relations. Prior to graduating, she completed internships with the Charlotte Bobcats in 2005 and the Family Circle Cup in Charleston in the spring of 2006, where she played an instrumental role in creating and implementing a number of key communications initiatives. With the Family Circle Cup, her duties included media and public relations, managing the official Family Circle Cup website and producing the tournament media guide. Pendrys competed in track & field at Albion College, a Division III NCAA school in Michigan, and now participates regularly in marathons throughout the country.
