Golf Capital Of The World Will Host Prep Teams From Across The Nation
July 13, 2006, Myrtle Beach, S.C. – Entries are now being accepted for the second annual Fall Palmetto High School Golf Championship, to be held September 15-16, 2006, in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Teams from Tennessee, Kansas, California, Florida, Nevada, North Carolina and Arizona have already registered and will join host Myrtle Beach High School in the Fall Palmetto event that is limited to a maximum of 20 teams.
A 36-hole college-style tournament featuring both a boy’s and girl’s division, the Fall Palmetto High School Golf Championship will be held at Blackmoor Golf Club on the first day and at Wachesaw Plantation East on day two.
New in 2006, the Palmetto High School Golf Championships will team up with the National High School Golf Coaches Association (NHSGCA) for the Fall Palmetto High School Golf Championship to sponsor the Palmetto All-Tournament Team. The NHSGCA is the only national association for high school golf coaches and with the partnership; the Palmetto High School Golf Championships reaches high school golf coaches across the country seeking tournaments for their teams.
"The Palmetto High School Golf Championships have emerged as one of the most competitive high school team tournaments in the nation," said Dave Macpherson, Palmetto tournament director with Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday. "With our new partnership with the National High School Golf Coaches Association, we expect one of the deepest fields in tournament history."
In addition to the prep tournament, coaches can compete in a two-person team tournament to be held on Friday, September 15th. Tee times will be scheduled so that coaches can play and still keep watch on the student competition.
Registration runs until September 1, 2006. For more information about the tournament, call 1-800-833-8798 or visit www.PalmettoGolfChampionship.com.
