Robert Trent Jones Apparel features new twist on historical patterns
LENEXA, Kan. – Robert Trent Jones Apparel has found new success in adopting an old knitting pattern whose history dates back several hundred years. The brand has updated the classic "Fair Isle" pattern in a collection of luxury sweater vests and mercerized knit polo shirts for fall. The patterns have become the fasting selling pieces in the brands’ short history.
"We didn’t invent the Fair Isle pattern," explains Tim Conlin, director of design for Robert Trent Jones Apparel, "but simply reinterpreted it for today’s market. Its’ a classic British golf look that we updated through the use of bold colors and luxury yarns to become a contemporary version of the original."
The Fair Isle pattern originates from the Island that bears its’ namesake, located off the British Isles. This unique style developed long ago, when local knitters discovered that fine yarns stranded into a double layer produced durable, warm, yet lightweight garments. The term "Fair Isle" is now used worldwide to describe the "horizontal bands of geometric patterns." Originally the fame of the sweaters was spread in the 1920’s by the Prince of Wales.
The sweater vest is available in four-color ways and is made of a super soft baby alpaca and extra fine merino wool blend. The yarn used in the sweater is lightweight, but provides sufficient warmth on chilly fall days. The knit polo shirts feature a mini Fair Isle jacquard pattern that is knitted in the brands’ signature sixties two-ply double mercerized yarn.
Robert Trent Jones Apparel is committed to becoming one of golf’s premium apparel brands in the U.S. A new approach has been taken with this stellar brand, from sourcing the finest fabrics available, to creating freshness in men’s golf apparel within the classic preferences of the modern golfer. The style and quality of apparel designed is worthy of carrying the Robert Trent Jones name and the prestigious legacy that it represents.
