Secures British Open Berth with Stirring One-Shot Triumph
(Markham, Ontario) – Trend-setting performance apparel designer Ralph Dunning and his company, Dunning Golf, announce that staff player John Senden captured his first career PGA Tour victory this past weekend at the 2006 John Deere Classic at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois.
Senden relied on Dunning Golf’s total moisture management system of proprietary breathable, moisture-wicking fabric technology to keep him cool and dry in temperatures that hovered near 100 degrees. He wore the company’s Interface FX Pique Polo, Interface FX Pique Under Panel Polo, Tencel Twill Tour Pant and compression boxer briefs throughout the tournament.
The 35-year-old native of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, finished one-stroke ahead of Tour veteran JP Hayes with a scorching four-round total of 19-under-par 265. He locked up the victory with a final-hole bunker shot to five inches, allowing for an easy tap-in par.
With the win, Senden earned $720,000, advancing 37 places to No. 23 on the PGA Tour money list. He also secured a spot in this week’s British Open Championship at Royal Liverpool in Hoylake, UK.
"It was a tough day out there and I just wanted to hang tough and be cool on the job," Senden said. "It was an exciting finish and I’m really looking forward to playing in the British Open."
"John has improved each year on the PGA Tour and has been an excellent ambassador for our brand," says Ralph Dunning. "He and other players like Zach Johnson and Bob Estes play a key role in our product development and it’s great to see them perform well in demanding conditions."
Senden and Johnson will premier Dunning Golf’s Fall 2006 collection during the British Open. The collection is priced from $50 to $250 and features everything from compression undergarments to long- and short-sleeve polos, mock-necks, pullovers, windshirts and waterproof outerwear. Seasonal colors include black, carbon, texas orange, trythe (burgundy), diesel, white, marine, michigan yellow, red, pink and khaki. Select pieces are currently available at the finest pro shops and golf-specific retailers throughout North America, with the complete collection in stores August 15.
