VACAVILLE, Calif. – The 86th Annual Northern California Open, presented by Black Oak Casino, Nike Golf and Sundog Eyewear, will be held September 25 – 27 at Saddle Creek Resort in Copperopolis, Calif. This prestigious three-day event will offer a $65,000 purse, the largest purse in the history of the event.
"This prize represents more than an 80 percent increase over last year," said Nancy Maul, NCPGA Tournament Director. Maul credits sponsors Black Oak Casino, Nike Golf and Sundog Eyewear for making this purse a reality. "It’s really a testament to the growth of the tournament to see these wonderful changes taking place."
The Northern California Open Championship began in 1920, and since 1945, the NCPGA has sponsored and conducted the championship in conjunction with the Northern California Golf Association. The NCPGA partnership with the NCGA has made the Nor Cal Open the premier golf championship in Northern California. Past champions include legendary golf pros George Archer and Roger Maltbie, and household names like Peter Jacobsen and David Sutherland.
Alongside the Nor Cal Open is the Senior Northern California Open and Nor Cal Open Pro-Am. The Senior NCO, slated for Sept. 18-20 will be hosted by Diablo Grande Resort in Patterson, Calif. The NCO Pro-Am, slated for Sept. 24, will also be held at nationally-ranked Saddle Creek Resort in Copperopolis, Calif.
All professionals and amateurs with a 3.4 or less handicap index are invited to enter. Entries for both the Northern California Open and the Nor Cal Open Pro-Am are available online at www.ncpga.com.
