ORLANDO, Fla., (July 17, 2006) – Golfweek, golf’s award-winning news leader, will provide online video reports of the Open Championship, through golf’s first online television network, GolfweekTV.
GolfweekTV will begin its coverage of the Open Championship at Royal Liverpool on July 19 with "Preferred Lies," hosted by Peter Kessler, featuring a preview of the Open. In addition to the "Preferred Lies" program, GolfweekTV will air daily reports from Golfweek writers, "Conversations with Peter Kessler" and a selection of feature stories all live from the Open Championship.
With six journalists from Golfweek onsite at the Open Championship, the in-depth coverage is sure to be unique from coverage traditionally found on television.
"I have particularly enjoyed the conversations among Peter and various members of the staff," said viewer Glen Rapoport. "Since they have been conversations among collections in the "business" but have been devoid of the "entertainment" and "spokes model" personalities that pad the Golf Channel these days. Keep up the concept â?¦it’s terseâ?¦to the point."
The Open Championship coverage will beginning airing July 19 and is available by visiting GolfweekTV.com.
GolfweekTV is accessible by visiting GolfweekTV.com. There will be a list of programming as it becomes available, from which visitors can choose what they would like to watch. Once they have clicked on the link to the program it will open and begin playing. There is no need to download software. All programs will be put into an archive system.
GolfweekTV launched in March to rave reviews.
"Now that’s what TV journalism should be, but seldom is," said viewer Bill Bryant. "Guys who know their craft, not trying to show off or be comedians when it’s not called for. Just good solid insights that, as a viewer, I’ll remember and reflect on. Good stuff."
