Pulsar Captures Victory At John Deere Classic, While Black Widow Wins The Ford Senior Player’s Championship; Softspikes Celebrates 10-Straight Years As #1 Cleat on TOUR
Gaithersburg, Maryland, July 17, 2006 â?¦ Celebrating 10-straight years as the #1 Cleat on TOUR, Softspikes® brand cleats, made by PrideSports — the world’s leading cleat company — once again dominated the weekend professional leaderboard, capturing wins at both the PGA TOUR’s John Deere Classic, and the Champions Tour’s Ford Senior Players Championship.
The victories included the Pulsar cleat capturing Softspikes’ unprecedented 161st win on the PGA TOUR, while the Black Widow, the best selling cleat of all-time, won on the Champions Tour.
"To have a single dominant product win on TOUR is great, but to have two products consistently perform well, and win in professional golf is extremely gratifying," said Dan Tilton, Vice President of Sales, PrideSports.
Tilton adds, "Regardless of the course or playing conditions, each week it becomes more evident that the majority of today’s professional golfers prefer the comfort and performance of Softspikes cleats, as compared to a few select players who still want the tradition of metal spikes, and despite the ongoing damage they cause to greens and golf facilities. As Softspikes continues to generate victories on TOUR, we believe these few remaining metal users will eventually make the switch to plastic."
Softspikes is a division of Pride Sports, which was formed in January 2003, following Pride Manufacturing Company’s purchase of Softspikes, Inc., and its sister company Trisport, Ltd. of England. This acquisition essentially formed the world’s premier golf accessories company, as Pride and Softspikes are the world’s leading golf tee and golf cleat lines, respectively. Today, Pride Sports is the world leader in the design and manufacture of cleats, spikes and receptacles for the entire golf footwear industry.
