ITASCA, IL. – July 17, 2006 – The Excel Golf Tee Company, manufacturer of the "Winningest" high performance golf tee on the PGA Tour, announced today that their Zero Friction Golf Tee was played by four PGA and one LPGA Professional to finish this past weekend in the top-10.
As the summer season continues to heat up so do the professionals that use Zero Friction Golf Tees. At the tremendously muggy John Deere Classic, a burgeoning Japanese Professional scored a pair of 66s on the TPC Deere Run Course using the three-pronged tee. Not only did his performance sizzle, he collected some respectable earnings and distinguished himself from the other more notable Japanese Professional. Another loyal Zero Friction Golf Tee user and an American favorite fired an unbelievable three eagles on the back nine during his final round of play, which clinched him his third top-10 finish of the season.
As if these results weren’t impressive enough, the PGA Professional who shared and held the lead during the second round also used a Zero Friction Golf Tee to match his best 36-hole total on tour. And lastly, a PGA Tour veteran shot an incredible five birdies and one eagle with a Zero Friction Golf Tee during his last round which accounted for a seventh place finish.
"We are closing on 100 top-10 tour finishes here in the US. That is such an amazing feat," says Mike Herron, Business Development Manager for Excel Golf Tee, Inc. "This amazing mark mostly comes from the PGA Tour but we do continue to succeed on the LPGA and Nationwide Tours. In fact, this past weekend we had a 5th and 13th finish at the Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic."
As the rain created havoc at the Jamie Owens Corning Classic, one very focused LPGA Professional shot an inspiring four rounds with a Zero Friction Golf Tee, which helped her secure a solid 5th place finish.
The Zero Friction Golf Tee significantly reduces the contact area between the golf ball and the tee. At impact, this small degree of contact reduction or resistance results in increased accuracy and distance. In an independent laboratory Zero Friction Golf Tees were proven to be the longest and most accurate tee used on Tour.
Golfers on the major professional tours use Zero Friction’s unique three-pronged teeing system to gain invaluable extra distance and to win 13 tournaments in the United States and five in Japan. Nine of the US victories came on the PGA Tour, three on the Nationwide Tour and one on the LPGA. In Japan, all victories were experienced on the women’s tour.
In addition to the ZF 2-¾" tee model, a new, longer, 3-¼" ZF tee model is now available and not only for the Professionals but for every golfer. And for the traditionalists, a new ZF Hardwood has begun shipping into the marketplace.
Excel Golf Tees take great pride in the fact that PGA, Nationwide, and LPGA Professionals rely on the Zero Friction Golf Tee but the company also is a major sponsor of the Long Driver of America Association and is the Exclusive Golf Tee of the RE/MAX World Long Drive Championship.
