OCN Receives Special Recognition in Five Categories
Winter Haven, FL, July 21, 2006…Orange County National Golf and Lodge is ranked 7th among public and resort courses in Florida according to Zagat’s Guide to America’s Top Golf Courses. The Guide also gave Orange County National special recognition in five Zagat categories: instruction, practice facility, 19th hole, par 5’s and bunkering.
"Being ranked 7th in a state with such a large number of public and resort courses is a great honor for Orange County National," stated Bruce Gerlander, general manager OCN. "We are constantly challenging ourselves to provide our guests with superior course conditions, excellent amenities and world-class service. Each year we invest in capital improvements to keep our property one of the best in the state."
Orange County National is the home of two 18-hole championship golf courses; Panther Lake and Crooked Cat. A bunker renovation of all 168 bunkers has just been completed. The bunkers on both courses were re-cut and the faces and noses of the bunkers were re-sodded with new beach bunkers added to three holes. In addition, the 42-acre circular practice facility is known as one of the best in the country. The practice facility features 600 teeing spaces, 9 target greens, several greenside and fairway practice bunkers, putting, pitching and chipping greens along with a 9-hole executive course.
"Our practice facility is a huge amenity for our property," continued Gerlander. "There are several top touring professionals who practice here along with some of the top golf instructors in the country who use the facility to teach out of. If you want to work on your entire game there is no better place than OCN."
