(MYRTLE BEACH, SC) The team of Ken Gilford and Kris Cappuzzo of Cabarrus Country Club defeated Oliver Peacock and John Carter of Elk River Club on the first playoff hole in the 2006 Titleist/FootJoy/Cobra Pro-Assistant Championship held at the Dunes Golf & Beach Club and the Members Club at Grande Dunes.
Gilford/Cappuzzo were tied for the lead going into the final round after firing a 64 (-8) at the Dunes Club. They followed that round with another 64 (-7) on the par 71 Members Club at Grande Dunes to put them in a tie with Peacock/Carter. Both teams finished with a two-day total of 128 (-15). Peacock/Carter posted a final round 65 (-7) at the par-72 Dunes Golf & Beach Club after they shot 63 (-8) in round one.
The playoff was held at the Members Club following the completion of the second round. On the first playoff hole, Kris Cappuzzo helped his team by hitting his approach to twenty-two feet. He then drained that putt to capture the title.
The teams in this event were comprised of one Head PGA Professional and their Assistant in a four-ball stroke play format where the teams took the better score of the two from each hole. After round one, the teams switched courses.
