Bill Tindall Assumes Role As Head Professional of Doak Course
ROSLYN, Wash., July 27, 2006 â?¦ Serving more than 35 years as a golf professional, collegiate coach and industry leader in the Pacific Northwest, Bill Tindall provides a special perspective to his new position as the head golf professional of the new Tumble Creek Golf Club at Suncadia.
"Bill is the premier golf professional in the Northwest and we are truly fortunate to have him at Tumble Creek," said Christopher Kelsey, Suncadia Senior Vice President of Development. "He brings a level of expertise and commitment to the game of golf that is among the best anywhere."
A collegiate standout at the University of Washington from 1963-65, Tindall served as men’s golf coach at his alma mater from 1984 to 1992, winning the Pacific-10 Championship in 1988, when he was named Coach of the Year, a first at UW. During his career, Tindall has played in three U.S. Senior Opens, making the cut each time and acted as president for both Western Washington PGA and Pacific Northwest PGA. He has many strong relationships throughout golf, including some of the game’s stars.
"Bill Tindall is synonymous with golf in the Pacific Northwest and I think it is terrific that Suncadia has made him part of the team," said PGA Tour champion Peter Jacobsen, a native Oregonian who is designing the third course at Suncadia, to debut in 2007. "His knowledge, experience and personality will be tremendous not only for Tumble Creek, but for the prestige of the entire resort."
Tindall will be responsible for golf course operations for the private Tom Doak course, including teaching and lesson programs, golf operations staffing, club tournaments and golf shop operations.
"It’s an exciting opportunity to be joining the team at Tumble Creek," Tindall said. "Not only is Tom Doak’s design amazing, but the overall relaxing atmosphere and beautiful scenery makes this a very unique and special place to be."
Prior to joining Tumble Creek, Tindall served as director of golf at The Members Club at Aldarra in Fall City, Wash., from 1999 to 2005. He also served as head golf professional at Broadmoor Golf Club in Seattle, from 1977 to 1999 and Longview Country Club, from 1969 to 1977. Tindall currently resides in Camano Island, Wash., with his wife of 41 years, Linda. Together they have two children, Rob and Tricia, and a grandson, Leo.
Suncadia is Washington’s first all-season destination resort set on 6,000-acres on the Cle Elum River near Roslyn, less than 90 minutes from Seattle. Tumble Creek is the second of three golf courses at the resort community, where residents and travelers alike enjoy a four-season recreation area adjacent to the 2.2 million acre Wenatchee National Forest. The Doak course joins the Arnold Palmer-designed Prospector, which debuted in the summer of 2005, and will be joined in 2007 by Rope Rider, designed by Peter Jacobsen and Jim Hardy. Both Prospector and Rope Rider are resort courses open to the public.
Construction on the resort began in 2002. Once completed, Suncadia is to include a village with shops, galleries and restaurants, a magnificent lodge located on a bluff 250 feet above the river; a state-of-the-art conference center; three golf courses; a 7,000 square-foot village residence complex; luxury condominiums; town homes, cabins, custom homes and custom home sites; and 40 miles of hiking, biking, cross country ski and snow shoe trails.
