TOUR-Tested Composite Shaft Designed for Wide Variety of Swing Profiles
(SAN DIEGO, California) — Graphite Design International ("GDI") — maker of some of the most widely played graphite driver shaft models on the PGA TOUR — today announces the availability of its Pershing graphite shaft, specifically designed for today’s high-performance clubheads.
Already tested and adopted by many PGA TOUR pros, including a winner of a 2006 event, Pershing’s immediate validation by the world’s best players speaks to the shaft’s superior accuracy and distance engineering. Designed to match the swing profiles of a variety of players, five Pershing models (45, 55, 65, 75 and 85) are offered in weights ranging from an ultra-light 45 grams up to 89 grams. All models feature a high balance point for superb feel from hands through clubhead. The Pershing line provides a perfect match for today’s largest clubheads, but the wide variety of shaft weights and two available tip measurements make it suitable for any size driver or fairway wood.
Other Pershing features include:
– Low to mid kick points and lively tip sections, promoting high launches with minimal spin
– .335" and .350" parallel tip sizes
– Torque ranging from 3.0 (85 model) to 6.0 (45 model)
– Low-resin, ultra-high-modulus construction producing GDI’s trademark feel and performance
– MSRPs — $120.00 to $127.00
"We are excited to introduce Pershing, a shaft whose benefits can be enjoyed by all types of golfers," said Akio Karashima, CEO of GDI. "From players with slower swing speeds who need a lightweight, flexible shaft, to accomplished golfers who prefer more weight and stiffer profile, Pershing can help anyone realize distance gains and improved accuracy off the tee."
Pershing joins GDI’s family of high-performance shafts which includes the Purple Ice, Prototype Model and Tour AD Series. GDI’s YS-6 shaft ranked as the most-played graphite driver shaft model on the PGA TOUR from 2003-2005.
Last year, GDI shafts were used by 18 winners on the PGA TOUR and 42 winners worldwide, helping them amass more than $75 million in earnings. They were also played by PGA TOUR leaders in Total Driving (distance plus accuracy), five of the top-10 players in Driving Accuracy Percentage, four of the top-10 money winners, and top-10 players in the World Golf Rankings.
On the Japan Tour, GDI shafts were victorious 16 times in 2005 and have been the most-played brand for a staggering 119 straight tournaments, an unprecedented streak dating back to 2002.
