2006 HSBC Major Championships Ranking Update

July 24th, 2006 – Jim Furyk has qualified for the 2006 HSBC World Match Play Championship at Wentworth Club, September 14-17.

Furyk lies fourth on the 2006 HSBC Major Championships Ranking after finishing T22nd at the Masters, 2nd at the US Open and 4th at the 135th Open Championship yesterday. The top 10 players on the HSBC Major Championships Ranking after the US PGA Championship qualify for the HSBC World Match Play Championship and after three strong Major performances, Furyk has guaranteed his place in the top 10.

Defending Champion, Michael Campbell, World Number 1 and 2006 Open Champion, Tiger Woods, and current European Order of Merit leader, David Howell, are all confirmed for the 16-man field.

Qualification for the 16-man field will be based on performances in golf’s four Majors, (2006 HSBC Major Championships Ranking) five principal European Tour Tournaments (HSBC European Tournaments Ranking) plus the leading two European Tour players, not otherwise qualified, from The 2006 European Tour Order of Merit as of August 28, 2006.
