SANTA CRUZ, CALIF. (Aug. 1, 2006) – Alias Footwear is another name for some of the easiest-to-wear golf shoes around.
The "sole" of Alias’ mission is "Comfort to the Tee" under a golfer’s heels, which is completely the case with Sedan, Coupe and Slope Nose, the company’s three new models. All three have air and nitrogen filled heel chambers that reduce weight and allow maximum cushioning, as well a wider sole to insure stability. There’s also an EVA cushioned mid-sole and foot bed for a firm, plush feel with a latex top layer.
"Here at Alias Footwear we’re all about having fun and feeling good during play," says Dale Morrow, President of Alias Footwear. "Some of the priorities with our designs also include being ultra breathable, lightweight and having the ability to harbor a wide foot and an exaggerated fit and roomy toe box. Our no break-in period golf shoes facilitate an instant comfort zone for your feet straight out of the box."
While Alias is comfortable talking about its comfort, it’s important to take a few seconds to absorb the comments of others who second Morrow’s motion regarding the shoes being so foot friendly. Take what Fairways & Greens Magazine wrote in its February/March 2006 editionâ?¦
"What (Dale) Morrow did was create some of the most comfortable shoes on the market, which appeal to everyone from big-swinging newcomers to the pull-cartin’ older set."
Then add this recent observation from GolfRave.com.
"Alias Footwear’s Slope Nose golf shoes are an excellent addition to any golfer’s arsenal," wrote the web site. "With an air and nitrogen filled heel cavity for lighter weight and full girth out-sole sidewall mudguard for superior waterproofing and stability, these babies aren’t just for show. They feel great the first time you try them on and are just as comfortable stepping off the 18th green as they were on the first tee box."
As evidenced by the name of the golf shoes – and their MSRP’s (Sedan $68), (Coupe $72), (Slope Nose $76) – Alias Footwear was not created in the locker room of some ultra-chic private golf club. Rather, it was born on the streets ridden by extreme athletes. Its roots come from Morrow’s design and production of goods for surfers, snowboarders and skaters. The disgruntlement of those athletes – and dirt bikers – with the discomfort of regular golf shoes led Morrow to create his Alias brand.
"Comfort to the Tee is a given with Alias Footwear under your heels, not to mention the style points on the course from today’s casual generation representing the more non-traditional golf guy and girl," says Morrow. "Extreme sport lovers like to golf, too. Innovation over the last decade in skateboard shoes has heavily influenced designs for Alias to create these inspiring styles paralleled with functional features and clean finishing details."
The Sedan is constructed mainly of a synthetic PU Nu-buck and has a reinforced toe. The lateral sides of the upper at the foot’s breast are capped with textured PVC for added durability and finished with a sandwich poly-mesh tongue. The interior is padded for extra comfort and has wall-to-wall combed cotton mesh. Available in gray, black and khaki.
The Coupe is made from Nu-buck with mesh and Lycra. The construction of the tongue with Lycra, paralled with covering the toe box with a sandwich poly mesh fabric, makes it the most breathable of the three models. Available in khaki, gray, black and navy.
The Slope Nose, which is made from suede leather, is Alias’ top-of-the-line model. An exaggerated fit style accommodates a full range of widths. A sandwich poly mesh is used for breatheablity of the tongue and is standard around the ankle. The Slope Nose has a combed cotton mesh interior and is finished with clean and subtle logo placements. It can be cleaned with a dry clean brush. Available in khaki, charcoal, puddy and black.
