PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. -The PGA of America has hired two new Senior Directors, Kevin Carter and Jim Richerson, to oversee key business areas of the 90-year-old golf Association.
Carter, The PGA’s new Senior Director of Sales and Marketing, will be responsible for managing the many business relationships that The PGA enjoys in the golf industry. Carter joins The PGA after 14 years in sales and marketing positions with the National Football League. Most recently, he was the NFL’s Group Managing Director of Sales and Marketing, with account management responsibilities for such high-profile consumer brands as Pepsi, Burger King, Frito-Lay and Gatorade.
Richerson, a PGA of America member since 1995, has been named The PGA’s new Senior Director of PGA Golf Properties. As such, he will oversee the burgeoning PGA Golf Properties facilities, including those currently undergoing major refurbishment at PGA Village in Port St. Lucie, Fla. He also will be responsible for golf operations at the 43,000-acre Coyote Springs project under development outside of Las Vegas, as well as Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Ky., home of the 2008 Ryder Cup.
Since 1988, Richerson has been employed by the Marriott Golf Corporation. Before joining The PGA, Richerson was PGA director of golf operations at The Ritz-Carlton Golf Club in Orlando. He was named the Marriott Golf-Golf Professional of the Year in 2005 for his work at The Ritz-Carlton Golf Club, voted as one of Golf Digest’s "Top 10 New Upscale Courses in 2004."
