r7 Drivers with MWT Surpass 100 Victories*
CARLSBAD, Calif. (July 31, 2006) – TaylorMade Tour Staff professionals lit it up all over the globe this weekend, winning on four tours on three continents — the United States, Europe and Japan.
On the PGA Tour, Corey Pavin was the wire-to-wire winner of the U.S. Bank Championship, the 15th victory of his career and his first in ten years. The 23-year tour veteran took just 10 putts on the outward nine on Thursday en route to a PGA Tour-record 26. His 61, combined with his second-round 64, matched the PGA Tour’s scoring record of 125 for the first 36 holes. In the final round he carved his way around Brown Deer Park Golf Club with a surgeon’s precision, hitting all but two fairways and all 18 greens in regulation, and holing his approach for eagle at the par-4 eighth hole.
In Pavin’s bag: TaylorMade r7 425 driver, TaylorMade r7 TP 3-wood, TaylorMade V Steelâ?¢ 5-wood, TaylorMade Rescue® Mid hybrid, TaylorMade racâ?¢ TP irons. He also wore adidas Golf apparel.
On the Champions Tour, Loren Roberts won a playoff at the Senior British Open at Turnberry, his fourth victory this year and his second Senior major championship. The win vaulted Roberts back to the top of the money list and to the top of the Charles Schwab Cup points race. Fellow TaylorMade Tour Staffer Hale Irwin’s score of 285 earned him the Fred Daly Award, which honors the low Championship finisher aged 60 or over.
In Roberts’ Bag: TaylorMade R510 driver, TaylorMade Rescue Mid hybrid, TaylorMade rac LT irons.
On the Nationwide Tour, Kevin Johnson fired four rounds in the 60s with TaylorMade’s new TP Redâ?¢ golf ball to win the Preferred Health Systems Wichita Open. The victory was Johnson’s fourth on the Nationwide Tour but first since 2000.
In Johnson’s Bag: TaylorMade r7 425 driver, TaylorMade r7 TP 3-wood, TaylorMade Rescue Mid hybrid, TaylorMade rac LT irons, TaylorMade TP Red ball. He also wore adidas Golf footwear and apparel.
On the Japan PGA Tour, Toru Taniguchi won The Golf Tournament in Omaezaki, his 11th career victory. The win was the first this year for Taniguchi, who had recorded nine top-ten finishes in 11 JGT starts in 2006 going into last week’s event.
In Taniguchi’s Bag: TaylorMade r7 quad driver, TaylorMade rac LT irons.
TaylorMade r7 Drivers with Movable Weight Technology Surpass 100 Victories
TaylorMade introduced Movable Weight Technologyâ?¢ to the professional tours in 2004 with the r7 quad driver; just five weeks after that Sergio Garcia won the 2004 Byron Nelson while using the club. That was little more than two years ago. With last week’s wins by Pavin, Johnson and Taniguchi, the victory tally for worldwide professional victories by players using TaylorMade r7 drivers with Movable Weight Technology rose above the 100 mark, to 102. A remarkable technology; a remarkable number of wins.
*Worldwide r7 wins based on combined count of PGA, European, Japan Golf, LPGA and Champions Tours since 2004.
