Hilton Head Island, S.C. (August7, 2006) — Golfers who enjoy the play at the world-famous Palmetto Dunes Resort in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina now will have fewer meltdowns on the course. Heat-related meltdowns, that is.
Welcome to the world of air-conditioned golf carts and stand-up human transporters.
Palmetto Dunes has introduced the Coolwell G2 and the Segway Golf Transporter to its three golf courses — Arthur Hills, Robert Trent Jones and George Fazio. Palmetto Dunes Resort is the only public access facility to offer these innovative products.
â?¢ The Coolwell G2 Climate Control System is a compact air cooler that mounts onto the golf cart. With a flick of the switch, it becomes a heater — making it ideal for the South’s hot summers and cool winters.
â?¢ The Coolwell G2 is a true air conditioner, stripping heat and moisture from the air and directing cool, dry air from a block of ice — right onto the back of the golfer’s neck. It even shuts itself off when the golfer gets out of the cart.
â?¢ The Segway Golf Transporter is a one-person, two-wheeled, electric-powered transporter straight out of a science fiction movie. "The wow factor on this one is off the charts," said Chip Pellerin, Director of Golf at Palmetto Dunes. "It draws a lot of stares when people see it glide down the fairway."
â?¢ The Segway requires no special skills, and virtually anyone can operate it. It is controlled by a computer and is gyroscopically balanced, enabling the rider / golfer to move forward or backward simply by leaning. And because players can ride directly to their shots at speeds up to 12.5 mph, the Segway can improve the pace of play.
MEDIA NOTES: The Coolwell G2 golf cart and the Segway Golf Transporter are changing the way golfers think about their games — each vehicle needs to be experienced. The photo opps and the visuals for these vehicles are very strong — particularly for the Segway Golf Transporter. Your story can combine your viewers’s interests in golf and golf course comfort… technology and gadgets… and cutting-edge recreational experiences.
