BRIARCLIFF MANOR, N.Y., Aug. 9, 2006 … One of the most respected educators in the golf industry, Dr. Gary Wiren has been selected to serve as Senior Director of Instruction for Trump Golf Properties.
A true ambassador of golf instruction who has taught a quarter-million people through seminars, schools and group instruction in 34 countries, Wiren is a prolific author, whose 11 books include the PGA of America’s Teaching Manual. He also is a perennial Top 100 teacher, known for a relaxed teaching style and the ability to communicate his vast knowledge of the game.
Wiren’s role with Trump Golf will expand from his position as master teaching consultant at Trump International Golf Club, West Palm Beach. He now will be able to assist the teaching staffs at each of the Donald J. Trump facilities in the U.S. and internationally and be available as a resource for all teaching- and playing-related issues.

A member of four golf halls of fame, Wiren’s many honors include being named PGA Teacher of the Year in 1987, the national Joe Graffis Award for educational contributions to golf, the Rolex Ellen Griffin award, and Distinguished Service awards from the Swedish Golf Union and Italian Golf Federation, as well as the National Merit Award from the Golf Course Owners Association of America.
He served as Education Director for the PGA of America, founded its National Academy of Golf for Juniors, PGA Golf Discovery Schools, and served as director of education, learning and research, and the PGA Hall of Fame. A founding member of the Golf Collector’s Society and three-time winner of its national wooden shaft tournament, Wiren owns of one of golf’s finest private antique and memorabilia collections and libraries.
A graduate of Huron University in South Dakota, with a master’s degree from the University of Michigan and a Ph.D. from the University of Oregon, he is founder and chairman of Golf Around the World, "The Learning Aids Company," and a consultant for Mizuno Golf. Wiren is married, the father of four and lives in North Palm Beach, Fla.
