Winner of 18 Professional titles and 1997 US Women’s Open Golf Champion, Alison Nicholas, has added a Huxley Training Aid to the range of coaching and practice facilities available to pupils attending the Alison Nicholas Golf Academy at Queslett Park, Great Barr, Birmingham.
The Training Aid is one of Huxley Golf’s 10-strong line-up of modular putting greens designed for DIY installation in minutes on most firm, reasonably surfaces, indoors or outside.
Supplied with a regulation-size hole cup, moveable foot stand, stroke groover block, string guide and a hole cup reducing ring, the Training Aid used by Alison at her golf academy measures 9ft long by 2ft wide (2.7m x 0.6m). Its compact size makes the Training Aid ideal for use by coaches, teachers and professionals working at golf schools, ranges and clubs or by any golfer wishing to improve or fine-tune their putting stroke at home, at work or in their leisure time.
For those wanting more of a challenge, the Training Aid comes with two moveable pads which can be slipped beneath the putting surface to create life-like contours that need to be "read" in similar manner to a natural turf green if the ball is to drop into the hole. The quality putting surface used for the Training Aid is Huxley Golf’s Country Club synthetic turf which needs minimal maintenance, the only requirement being an occasional brush or vacuum.
"The Huxley Training Aid is ideal for teaching and coaching purposes or for anyone wanting to regularly practise their putting stroke at home, the office, golf club or range," commented Alison. "Its modular construction makes for fast, easy assembly while its compact size takes up very little floor space in use or when put away afterwards. The Training Aid is proving a most useful addition to the facilities offered at my academy."
Located close to Junction 7 of the M6 motorway on the north side of Birmingham, the Alison Nicholas Golf Academy was founded in 2000 by Alison, who is a qualified member of the European Golf Teachers Federation. Having retired in 2004 after 20 years on the ladies professional golf tour, Alison is now concentrating fully on coaching and clinics, golf days, consultancy work, speaking engagements, tournament commentary and charity work.
Her academy offers a wide range of facilities designed to improve the game of all golfers from the beginner to the more experienced player. In addition to the Huxley Training Aid, the academy has access to a 58 bay two-tier driving range with an artificial surface, contoured greens and floodlighting, making it suitable for year-round golf practice.
The driving range is complemented by a professional coaching bay and two exclusive academy bays equipped with video analysis and the latest teaching aids including the Explanar golf training system. There is also a 9-hole par three Academy Course with water hazards and bunkers, all designed to help improve the short game.
In addition to Alison, expert tuition is provided at the academy by highly experienced and qualified PGA professionals headed by senior professional, Gary Broadbent. Open seven days a week, the Alison Nicholas Golf Academy also offers a club repair service and group and corporate golf packages that can be tailored to meet specific requirements.
