Denver, Co, Aug 10, 2006 . . . YES! Golf announced today that 2005 U.S. Amateur Champion Edoardo Molinari has signed a multi-year agreement with the company that pioneered C-groove putter technology. Molinari turned professional on July 24 following the 2006 British Open.
"Molinari has had an outstanding amateur career and we are pleased to have him represent YES! Golf as he begins his professional career on the European Tour," stated Francis Ricci, CEO YES! Golf. "YES! putters have been gaining popularity this year on the European Tour with 6 victories to date and an average of 25 players using the putter weekly."
Molinari’s U.S. Amateur victory earned him an exemption to play as an amateur in three majors this year: Masters, U.S. Open and British Open. Following the British Open he decided to turn professional and join his brother Francesco on the European Tour. As an amateur, Molinari also won the 2001 Italian Amateur and the 2003 Turkish Amateur. He was a member of the Italian team that placed 4th in the 2004 World Amateur Team Championship. He graduated from University ‘di Torino’ with a degree in engineering.
Molinari, 24, currently uses the Callie putter. Callie is a traditional cavity back putter made of 304 stainless steel and features a plumber connection hosel.
As part of the agreement, Molinari will be used in the company’s advertising and promotional material. Other terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
