One Winner and Several Top Placements Cap Off Weekend Tournaments
Marlborough, MA-August 15h, 2006- CHAMP Spikes/MacNeill Engineering picked up another victory this weekend, adding to its season long dominance on several tours. This past weekend, CHAMP Spikes were winners on the European PGA and had a strong showing on the PGA Tour. At the KLM Open, the victor wore CHAMP Cermec® spike during his exciting playoff victory. At the International, a familiar site showed up on the leaderboard as CHAMP Spikes were worn by five of the top 10 finishers.
In England at the KLM Open, the victor scored his second title of the season but this one was done in dramatic fashion. The champion finished a remarkable -14 under par after the final round but it took an exhilarating playoff for him to walk off the greens in his CHAMP Spikes as a winner. The champion overcame a three stroke deficit in the final round drawing to a tie on the 18th hole with a birdie and winning on the first hole in sudden death.
"Similar to last weekend’s women’s British Open, the KLM Open is an event where a player would need the best traction possible and again, CHAMP provided all of the players with a variety of choices to match their traction needs," said Harris MacNeill, President and CEO of MacNeill Engineering. "Finding the right elements like extreme traction, comfort, and balance in a metal spike is difficult and these unique traction features exclusive to CHAMP just add up to more reasons why CHAMP added another victory this season."
At the International the leaderboard was filled with CHAMP Spikes as half of the top 10 finishers sported CHAMP’s spike line. Over half of the top players in the world wear CHAMP spikes, while a majority of the Top 20 on the European PGA sport CHAMP Spikes. With these victories, CHAMP now owns 19 of 32 PGA TOUR titles, 13 of 19 on the European Tour and 10 of 19 on the LPGA this season.
