Pebble Beach, California – It was announced today that Bill Murray will return to Pebble Beach this week to play in the Wal-Mart First Tee Open at Pebble Beach. The tournament gets underway Friday, September 1st on Pebble Beach Golf Links and Del Monte Golf Course.
A gallery favorite during the annual AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, Murray will be teamed with his longtime partner Scott Simpson one day. Foursomes are comprised of one Champions Tour player, one junior and two amateurs.
The tournament, the first of its kind, will benefit The First Tee, an initiative of the World Golf Foundation which provides young people of all backgrounds an opportunity to develop life-enhancing values through golf and character education. The Murray Brothers are supporters of The First Tee. Clint Eastwood serves as chairman of the Wal-Mart First Tee Open at Pebble Beach and former President George Bush and Arnold Palmer are honorary co-chairs.
Play will be conducted on both courses Friday and Saturday with television coverage by The Golf Channel. Six leading amateur teams and 22 pro-junior teams will join all 78 professionals for the championship at Pebble Beach on Sunday which will be televised on NBC.
