Japanese golfer Yusaku Miyazato defied incredible odds (67 million-to-one, according to Golf Digest, Sept. 2005) when he made a pair of holes-in-one in the same round of a PGA TOUR tournament at the Reno-Tahoe Open Friday, August 25. The two TourStage 54 golf balls, now part of golf history and autographed by Miyazato, will be on display at the World Golf Hall of Fame.
Miyazato aced the par-3 seventh and twelfth holes at the Montreux Golf and Country Club in Reno, Nev. to become the first player in the modern era (1970 to present) on the PGA TOUR to accomplish the feat. The only other known instance of a player making two holes-in-one during the same round was Bill Whedon at the 1955 Insurance City Open in Wethersfield, Conn.
The two balls Whedon used for his 1955 historical moment will be showcased alongside the Miyazato mementos, which will also include his official scorecard from the Reno-Tahoe Open.
Miyazato entered the Reno-Tahoe Open on an international exemption after receiving eligibility because he won the rookie title in Japan in 2005.
