Blue Springs, Missouri – The Midwest Section PGA announced today that Play Golf America (www.playgolfamerica.com), an initiative of the PGA of America, in partnership with the National Golf Course Owners Association, PGA Tour, LPGA, and USGA, will come to the Kansas City area. The Midwest Section PGA will conduct a Play Golf America Day on Saturday, September 30, 2006, at Sunflower Hills Golf Course, 122nd St. and Riverview Rd. in Bonner Springs, Kan.
The Play Golf America Day, which runs from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., is FREE to the general public. The fun-filled day of golf activities is designed to provide free expert instruction to golfers, introduce new golfers to the game, and provide equipment testing from the top brands in golf.
"The Play Golf America Day at Sunflower Hills Golf Course will be a terrific golf experience for players of all skill levels," said Brad Demo, Executive Director, Midwest Section PGA. "From avid golfers, to golf enthusiasts and newcomers to the game, this event will provide a fun-filled atmosphere that combines instruction, product testing, skills demonstrations and great golf giveaways."
Highlighting the day will be a golf and trick-shot exhibition by Kevin Compare – a.k.a. "Divot The Clown." Compare, a Master PGA Professional, has performed more than 1200 exhibitions in 46 states and seven countries. His exhibition is both entertaining and instructional.
Also entertaining the crowd will be long-drive competitor Pat Maloney. He qualified for the RE/MAX World Long Drive Championship in his first attempt. Maloney has recorded drives of more than 400 yards, and will wow the crowd with his ability.
Free instruction and golf clinics will be conducted by more than a dozen PGA Professionals from throughout the Midwest Section PGA. These golf professionals will provide 10-minute tune-ups, and instruct golfers of all skill levels. This is a great opportunity to receive free professional instruction on all facets of the game.
Several of the golf industry’s leading equipment manufacturers, including Bridgestone, Cobra, Ping, Srixon, TaylorMade, and Titleist, will be on-site to provide hands-on testing of the hottest products on the market today.
