Ohio Golf Association Champions Tournament winner Blake Sattler of New Philadelphia, Ohio (pictured right) played the two day, one ball tournament, scoring 9 under par to capture the open division title in the inaugural event playing the Volvik PROsPECT 3 piece z-urethane cover golf ball.
In a conversation with Glen Coombe of FLGolf, Inc. / Volvik Golf Balls Sattler told of his success. Sattler said, "I play the Pro V1x so the 70 compression PROsPECT was a different ball for sure. I found the ball to be easy to adjust to and I was able to control the ball well. Initially the trajectory was a little higher, but I found that I could flight the ball high or low. The PROsPECT was actually a little longer off the short irons than what I’m used to."
Sattler is entering his senior year at the University of Akron where he’ll play his final year as an amateur. Of his nine under score Sattler said, "I played pretty well both days. The event was a great idea. I feel like it’s a step in the right direction."
Coombe said, "The feedback from golfers in this event has been very positive. We’ve heard a lot about the control the ball gave these fine golfers. It seems that everyone is pleasantly surprised by the quality of the PROsPECT. Where feel and control are a golfer’s hot buttons we really shine. For the slower swing speeds we’re giving those golfers a lot of "bang for the buck" but without penalizing the longer hitters."
Sattler plays to a USGA index of +2 swings his driver at 107 to 110 mph. His 280 average off the tee is actually quite impressive when you look at his slender 135 pound frame.
Coombe said, "The PROsPECT golf ball seems to have been the equalizer in this event rather than a shorter ball. The higher swing speed of Champion Blake Sattler would seem to indicate that the PROsPECT can keep up with the most expensive balls in the ultra-premium market. It’s very interesting to see the results this fine player has with a golf ball priced below thirty dollars vs. one that is priced above forty dollars."
FLGolf, Inc. President Chuck Womer said, "Congratulations Blake! We’ll be following college golf with more interest this year now that we know this young man. We’re very proud to have been a part of this great experiment with the OGA. I invite golfers everywhere to take our challenge to find more distance, feel and performance with the PROsPECT ball. We’ll help you keep a little more money in your pocket too. Golf is a game where the cost of equipment has been keeping great golfers from playing a ball they need to help their games. We’re happy to offer the first three piece urethane cover golf ball for less than thirty dollars at retail. Give PROsPECT a try!"
